Built on other people’s work
ValheimBase relies on open source, game information and community work. This overview names the main building blocks and what they do. Each project provides its own license terms; game content has separate rights.
Framework and interface
- skullrock-gaming/basic: the shared technical foundation of Skullrock Gaming sites.
- SvelteKit and Svelte: pages, interactive components and server processing.
- Tailwind CSS: styling with shared design tokens.
- Vite: development server and production builds.
- Paraglide JS: English and German interface text.
- marked: rendering articles and guides from Markdown.
- sharp: image processing and resizing.
Game data, maps and images
- Valheim by Iron Gate: game values, item sprites and the basis of world generation come from the game. Rights to game content remain with its rights holders.
- kirilloid/valheim: a community dataset underlying parts of our connected database and calculators.
- Valheim Wiki: a reference for cross-checking individual facts. We write our own explanations here.
- Our map tools: the character-file parser, seed generator and seed scanner are developed for this project. The seed map and the map actually explored in a character file are different views.
- Original illustrations and symbols: some landscapes are made with AI assistance; the interface uses our own SVG symbols. Game sprites are a separate type of asset.
Data status and version labels help explain a source’s limits. A number from one community source is not automatically independently verified.
Data and sign-in
- PostgreSQL: the database for accounts and other stored application data.
- Drizzle ORM and postgres.js: database schema, migrations and queries.
- Better Auth: sign-in and sessions.
- pg-boss: background jobs through PostgreSQL.
- React Email: transactional email templates.
Testing and operation
Vitest checks individual components and how they work together. Playwright checks browser workflows across screen sizes. TypeScript and Svelte Check help catch problems during development.
Docker and GitHub Actions are part of the prepared deployment and build setup. ValheimBase currently runs locally; this list does not imply that a public service is already operating.
Development tools
Anthropic’s Claude and OpenAI’s Codex support research, implementation and review. Built with AI explains the tasks we use them for and their limits.
