Built with enthusiasm and AI

How we use AI, check results and take responsibility.

Yes, we build with AI

Large parts of ValheimBase are made with help from Claude and Codex: code, interfaces, illustrations, writing, translations and tests. We use these tools deliberately and say so openly. They help us explore and implement ideas. We remain responsible for the result.

What matters is whether the site helps you: are the calculations correct? Is the tool understandable? Are your choices respected? Do we fix mistakes? Those are the questions we want our work to answer.

Where AI helps

  • Code and architecture: designing features, examining existing behavior, implementing changes and finding possible faults.
  • Design and images: developing layouts and creating original atmospheric illustrations. Not every image is generated: item sprites come from the game and have a different origin.
  • Writing and languages: drafting explanations, comparing English and German and improving unclear passages.
  • Game data and research: examining sources and structuring data. A plausible AI answer is not a source for a game value.
  • Testing and debugging: suggesting cases, reproducing problems and checking improvements.

A draft is revised or discarded when it does not meet the task.

What stays human

AI can invent answers, miss constraints and present mistakes convincingly. A successful build or passing test does not prove that a calculation is correct or an interface is usable.

We define the intended behavior, review sources and results, try the interface and decide what to release or change. Responsibility cannot be handed to a model. This matters especially for rights, personal data and the way we handle feedback.

How we work

  1. Understand: What problem does a player have, and which inputs and limits matter?
  2. Build: Develop a draft with tools and AI, review it and adapt it.
  3. Try it: Check calculations, links, languages, small screens and unusual inputs.
  4. Own it: Decide what to accept, listen to feedback and fix failures.

Common questions

Do I have to use AI myself?

No. The database and calculators need neither an AI account nor an assistant connection. AI-assisted development is different from an AI feature inside the site.

Do game values come from a language model?

No. Numbers need game data or documented sources. When an independent check is missing or sources disagree, a confident answer must not conceal that gap.

Are all images generated?

No. The site combines original illustrations, interface symbols we design and game sprites. They have different creators and rights. Naming Claude or Codex does not imply sponsorship or a partnership with Anthropic or OpenAI.

What about criticism of AI?

Questions about training data, copyright, privacy and energy use are valid. Our use of AI does not make those questions less important. Other people’s contributions are acknowledged under Tools and repositories. Report specific problems through the bug reporter or the contact details in the imprint.

What if a mistake slips through?

Then we need to fix it. The affected page, your inputs and the expected result help us do that. “The AI did it” is not a solution to a problem you find on our site.
